There is a clinic and school in Dallas which isn't too far. I guess it depends on what side of Fort Worth you live on, be it the Arlington side or not. Anyway, here's the URL: http://www.lastinglines.net/school/electrolysis.asp.

The Art Institute of Fort Worth Texas... Thinking about going?

The Art Institute of Fort Worth Texas... Thinking about going?
I am looking at going for interior design. Does anyone know someone who has attended school there? The school is new, only about a year or so old. My understanding the school is currently building their program with the aide of the Ai Dallas Branch. The facilities are wonderful, and they are fully accredited. I understand it is expensive and have looked into other options in my area (state schools) but none would be possible for me to attend due to scheduling. I am looking for a career change and now would be the time to do it. I hold a BFA in Visual Studies (art ed) and a BFA in studio art in painting. I am currently a middle school art teacher and would have to take night courses. I am single with no other income other than my roommate who rents one room from my house each month. quitting work to go to school full time is not an option.

Reality is that even when you complete your very expensive training at AI, nobody is going to hire you with that credential. It may be fine for trust-fund beneficiaries and bored-spouses where there is another more than substantial income, but if you are single it is a foolish path with no rewards. Sorry to be a downer in this. You would be much better off getting your M.Educ., perhaps in a different teaching field.
2 :
They are quite expensive and even with Federal Aid you may still hoc up quite a bit of debt.
3 :
The other answerer is right, a lot of people hiring don't respect those degrees from schools like that much. They seem to think of them as a degree mills. Not to mention it will leave you with a ton of debt. I'm not sure what other options you have under your condition, other than get a master's. If your really set on being a interior designer the only other choice I can think of is go the route of self-study, or Jr college, it will take you almost the same amount of time a going to night college (and a lot cheaper). Once you get the knowledge you can freelance a few jobs for free or cheap and build a portfolio from there, and maybe someone will hire you based on that. And since you already have 2 art degrees you will still be respected in the interior design field. Either that or go into business for yourself if you are successful enough.

I went through some red tape at the AISD to enroll my child in a school outside her district. All I really had to do was state my reason in writing and within a week we were approved. My reasons for moving my child outside of her school in to another were very touchy, there was a lot of harassment and physical voilation going on in there. We reported these situations to the office every time and nothing was done. I went to the head board with this situation, and they didn't even hesitate to approve our case. No matter the situation I think as long as the persons education is the #1 priority they are willing to work with indeviduals. Honestly I think the only time they would deny a case is if a school is over crowded. As long as your willing to make the drive and show up on time Im sure you could attend any school you feel is in best interest for your education.

Living in Fort Worth, Texas as a Muslim?

Living in Fort Worth, Texas as a Muslim?
Hi there! I'm a Malaysia Muslim women enggaged with American and will be married in 4 months. We decided to stay in Fort Worth, Texas. So as a Muslim we want to know how is the situation there for us? Are we allowed to practice Islam? What about Halal food or restaurant? And Islamic school for our child (to be, insyaallah). Thank you in advanced for your kind answer. Peace be upon you

I cant answer about schools, or retaurants. But just an FYI there are a lot of narrowminded people that live in the South. People that practice Christianity, and think anyone who is different is unAmerican
3 :
go to the consulate and ask them. God be with you.
4 :
You are allowed to practice any religion you wish anywhere in America so long as it follows civil laws (which Islam does). There are mosques in every large American city and many smaller cities. You will encounter bigots and prejudice wherever you go, unfortunately, but most people in Texas are "live and let live". There are halal restaurants, most of them Pakistani owned- map http://www.zabihah.com/ls.php?id=79 I can find an insyaallah in Houston (which is- well, not close) to Fort Worth but in the same state. http://www.alhadi.com/ Hope this helps. Peace also to you. ps- Regarding the "lot of narrow minded people in the south" comment above, this is true. And in the north, east, and west. Southerners are generally far better than their reputations, however, and actual studies and polls show that they're actually one of the most tolerant areas of the nation. (I live in Alabama, a southern state, in a small city of 250,000, and we have a mosque and a fairly large Islamic community [most of them military or refugees from Iraq and parts of Africa] and to the best of my knowledge they've had no problems.)
5 :
texas is not heavily populated with muslims. from the people i know, there are not many places to buy halal food. i suggest michigan or california or new york if you are lookking to find a muslim community.
6 :
For a redneck town like Ft. Worth, I don't think you will have much problems from the people. I know there are some mosque's somewhere, but don't remember where they are. There are a ton of middle eastern restaurants here and you will just have to find your favorite by visiting them. I know nothing about the school system as I am older and my kids are grown.

You are allowed to practice any religion you choose, I'd be kinda surprised if you couldn't find a Muslim friendly restaurant or market, no idea about schooling though. Just be warned, Texas isn't known for it's tolerant views on non-christians. You may have to deal with a few bigots

what can I get for $1200 rent in the best school district in fort worth,TX?

what can I get for $1200 rent in the best school district in fort worth,TX?
Our family planning to move to Texas this summer, and would like to know what $1200 rent can get up in the best school district like HEB independent school district. We are looking for 4 bedrooms or more. Single family or town home. Apartment maybe?

I doubt you will find any apartments with 4 or more bedrooms, most are 1 and 2 bedrooms, some offer 3 bedrooms. Your best bet will be a house, duplex, or townhome. Look in Euless, Bedford, and Hurst. There are several townhomes in Euless, and I know that Bedford and Euless has lots of houses in your price range. Watch out in Euless, far north Euless is in the Grapevine school district. Good luck!
2 :
I would try North Richland Hills. It's part of Birdville ISD (which is good if you like in NRH area but not Haltom City) There are townhomes and some houses for rent in the area. (I live here) It you do NRH, I would stay between Davis Blvd. and Precient Line Rd. That's the nicest part of town and they have a brand new elementary and high school. You could probably find something in HEB too. There are alot of apartments in HEB but if you do that, I would stay north of 183, it's nicer. Also Grapevine has some apartments and townhomes you could move into too. I would check out Keller (keller ISD), Roanoke (northwest ISD), Haslet (northwest ISD) Saginaw (northwest) They are all cheaper because they are a little more out in the "country" than the others. But Northwest ISD is good too. WELCOME!

Moving to Fort Worth, Texas and I have some questions?

Moving to Fort Worth, Texas and I have some questions?
My family and I are getting ready to move to fort worth texas in Sept. We are in virgnia beach and we have to go per military orders. I want to know which neighboorhoods are good to live in for a young family with kids. What schools are good? We are very active in our church here, what good baptist churches are out there? We don't care about the night life, but we do care about being out doors and doing things outdoors as a family. We love to kayak, fish, hike pretty much anything outside. Is there alot of things to do out there? We are looking to rent a house because we have two dogs, probably a rent to own. I will be working in Ivring Texas, and my husband will be working at the base in fort worth. Any suggestions we are happy to get. Thanks

Try Euless. You will be very close to Irving, and Fort Worth is not far away. We are about 15 minutes from Lake Grapevine which is full of activities. Our school district (HEB) is in the top 4 in the state. Euless has a great set of parks with several miles of walking trails, a fishing pier, a dog park, and great places to play. Euless also has housing for all price ranges. There are several Baptist churches in the area, large and small. Most have gone to the more contemporary style instead of traditional, but some still offer traditional services. Good luck, and welcome to the area! Feel free to email me with any questions.
2 :
I'm not familiar enough with FW to give any advice on neighborhoods. Texas is Baptist country so you'll have an abundance of churches to pick from to find one that suits your family's needs. We lived in Irving for several years and I taught school there, before moving to south Grand Prairie, which is mid way between FW & Irving, and might be a good location for your family. Las Colinas, which is what the northern part of Irving is called, is very nice but south of Hwy 183 has really become run down. There are a lot of lakes in the area. An especially nice one is Joe Pool Lake at Cedar Hill State Park. It offers boating, fishing, swimming area, playground, picnic tables/grills, pavilions and furnished cabins complete with A/C, linens, cookware, dishes, -- you just bring your food. FW has a very nice zoo your kids might enjoy, and another place you may want to go is to Glen Rose about an hour from here. There are several dinosaur tracks in the Brazos River bed that can be plainly seen when the water is low. Call to check on water level before you go. 254-897-4588 In addition to exploring the tracks you can picnic, fish, swim in river, hike, mountain bike, & camp. Of course there is also Six Flags Over Texas, Hurricane Harbor, & Ranger Baseball games to enjoy. Please tell your husband thank you -- I appreciate all that military families go through to protect our country.

I would suggest looking to rent near Azle or Lake Worth (to the east of the base) or weatherford (to the west of the base) as anything east of I35 is going to be terrible to get through the traffic in the morning. There is also River Oaks which is right next to the base, but a quiet older city. Azle is right on Eagle Mountain Lake, Possum kingdom is about an hour west, but I wouldn't buy or rent there till you have seen it, as some sales right now are questionable. I had been looking at a nice brick two bedroom in River Oaks last year, built 1950's, established trees (yes, oaks) for about $65,000 with a shopping center about five miles down the road, but you get to listen to the jets. Welcome to Fort Worth. http://www.fwnaturecenter.org/ http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/recreational/lakes/possum_kingdom/ http://www.trwd.com/prod/TrinityRiver_ParksRecreation.asp http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/recreational/lakes/eagle_mountain/
4 :
I think north Ft worth will work for you. Look within the Northwest and Keller school districts. Close to everything you want, good schools, churches, shopping. I moved here from San Diego in '06. It's not SoCal, but it's alright. Let me know if I can help with any details. Good luck and welcome to town!

Know any 24 hour/extended hour daycare in the fort worth, texas area good with children speech delays?

Know any 24 hour/extended hour daycare in the fort worth, texas area good with children speech delays?
We have a 3 year old with speech delay. I am a working mother w/ 2 jobs and I go to school at night to be a RN. My husband and I have conflicting work hours and need a daycare that will give my son the help and attention that he needs and that we as parents can be confortable with. This is our only child and we want the best for him. Any suggestions?

Hi. Here in Fort Worth. Haven't heard of any daycares that are 24 hour. You might ask one of the daycares if they can reccomend one-you would know it would be someone licensed at the very least. My child used to Go to Daisy school and they're really nice there. Ask for Miss Lorenza, she is the director.
2 :
I don't know about 24-hour or extended child care, but I have some cousins in Ft. Worth, and one of them, and her dad, are in education (well, not in Ft. Worth, in Azle). They may know who you could contact. I don't know, is there a way you could send me a message on this thing if you wanted me to find out more, without my having to put my email address for all to see? My little boy had speech delays (he's five and still struggles a lot with language). Did you ever have your child tested with ECI (Early Childhood Intervention)? In Texas, ECI and local school systems work together to work with special needs children (even mild) from birth if they need it, all the way up until kindergarten and beyond. They'll evaluate your child, and determine at what level he is on all the points of development, then work out a plan of action with you. They offer speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and more, depending on what is needed. And unlike private therapy, it's free. ECI works with kids from infancy to three-years-old, and your local school district takes over once they're three. Depending on the need, the situation, how overworked the speech pathologist is, and the policies of the school district, some speech therapists will go out to whatever daycare your child is at. Since your son is three, you could contact ECI and find out what to do, or call the administration building for your local school district, and ask to speak with someone in the special education department, or to the speech pathologist. I mention that because I know how difficult it is to find a daycare for a child with special needs (particularly speech-related problems). We've found a good one (we're in Longview), but it's a regular 6-to-6 daycare, and he gets speech therapy during the day a few times a week. If you combine the sources of an extended hour daycare and the speech therapy of a local school, you may get the outcome you're looking for. I would imagine a lot of the extended hour daycares, while still good quality childcare, may not have the convenience you're needing (longer hours) AND someone who is really great with kids with speech delays. I know how stressful all that is. I'm just amazed, I know I'd have never had enough sanity to work two jobs, go to school, and have a preschooler. God bless!

try eBay
3 :
for brand new, head to best buy or circuit city. you can put it on their store card and get a good deal on paying it off and best buy rewards. dell has some good deals on laptops, too.
4 :
Try Fry's in Arlington.

cheapest is on the net. Ebay rocks. Or if you have to buy it from a store try best buy or frys. Not Walmart they break real easy and get viruses easy!

She can take various classes both on line and in person. In person classes are usually better. 'The local high school or school district can supply a list of locations. Classes are not required in order to take the examination but are highly recommended.

Is the terrain of Fort Worth Texas flat enough to use a bicycle as a form of transportation?

Is the terrain of Fort Worth Texas flat enough to use a bicycle as a form of transportation?
So I'm moving to Fort Worth in August for Law School, and with gas prices as high as they are (and the added blow that my Nissan Frontier barely gets 20mpg and costs a small FORTUNE to fill up now), I've been considering using my old Mongoose cross trainer bicycle as an alternative to driving to and from campus. The apartments I'm looking at are close enough that I could successfully do it, and I'm wondering about the actual plausibility now. I'm not in the GREATEST shape, but given some practice and the time between now and the move I can get in the shape I need to be in to do the daily ride. My question is thus: is the terrain flat enough that I could conceivably DO this kind of commute, without a whole lot of toiling and sweating up hills? It wouldn't be good to walk into class with sweat pouring down my back and ruining my good suit or dress shirt :\ To respond to the person asking about walking: Not with a laptop, 3 classes worth of Law journals and books, and the heat/rain being that brutal IN A SUIT. Cycling additionally improves my overall health. Thanks for the answers so far ya'll!

Yes, I think it is flat enough. My brother lives in the Dallas area and is an avid cyclist. The Ft. Worth police ride bicycles all over the city to patrol, especially the downtown area. You'll get in great shape. One drawback though is that there is often a lot of rain in the spring so you might think about that. And the summer heat is brutal.
2 :
if you are that close y not walk???
3 :
Ah hello it is 100+ deg in Texas, you are gonna sweat your ass of even if your going down hill. Have fun
4 :
you might want to think about looking into the bus system for the" Dressed up too good for weather this bad "days. http://www.the-t.com/ The site is very busy because it includes airport stuff, handicapped buses(MITS), rail service, other city services. The student discount is for high school and under and a number of buses have a bike rack so you could ride the bike back. I think TCU students get a free pass from the school. As for the lay of the land, we would need to know which school.

I'm a junior and high school and the volleyball season is almost done, but me and 2 other girls on the team are planning on loading up on volleyball camps and stuff, and working out alot, so, I'm gathering information. I've already tracked down clinics at TCU. A coach would help us out sooo much more cause of the individual attention.

I don't know any coaches, but I've seen very good results from finding college athletes who want to earn extra money. The added advantage of getting a college student is they can answer your college questions as well. Mike Honeycutt

Why not personally talk to coaches in TCU? Discuss your concerns to them, I'm sure they have an idea or can refer you to someone. Or try this: Coach Lewis can be reached via email at p.lewis@tcu.edu or in her office at (817) 257-7360.
